FAQ - Gum Disease - how can you tell?

< back to FAQ index

Overview

Statistics show that almost 70% of all adults have some form of gum disease. Amazing!

Gum disease is caused by bacterial infections in the gums. Gum disease goes through stages and takes time, but much of the damage is irreversible. Check for red, puffy gum tissue that bleeds when touched with a toothbrush or floss.

The only adequate technique for spotting this process is for you to have regular checkups. Preventative maintenance only takes a few minutes per year, and could save your teeth!
